WHAT'S NEW AT NUB'S! WINTER 2010 – 2011
New Race Arena replaces the Superpipe - As with many ski resorts around the country, our award winning Superpipe was the least used piece of real estate at the area. So we reshaped the walls and built a new slope this summer everyone at the resort will be able to enjoy. The new Race Arena slope will provide a home for our aspiring racers in a venue specifically designed to give them the training they need. Based on a model that has produced Olympic and FIS champions including Lindsay Vonn and Sarah Schepler, we also replaced the old handle tow with a fast rope tow which means racers build strength on their way up the hill while increasing the number of runs in the gates in a given training session. Our new snowmaking layout means this area will be one of the first slopes we open and also means early season access to the Arena Glades.
Expanded Terrain Park – The halfpipe in the Terrain Park gets a big facelift as the pipe gets longer and the wall height moves from 9’ to 12’. You’ll see several new and unique jibs and boxes in the Rail Yard. A new jump area also debuts on the lower left side of Smooth Sailing.
More Snowmaking Power - Continuing our tradition of the "Midwest's Best Snow!" we once again expanded our world class snowmaking system. 8 additional Nub's Nob snowguns were built this summer bringing our total gun count to 270. This system, in the hands of the Midwest’s most decorated and experienced snowmaking and grooming team, was once again unmatched in delivering the best conditions possible last season. Another New Pisten Bully Snow Grooming Machine - In our never ending quest for the best snow possible we have purchased another new snow grooming machine manufactured by Pisten Bully. Using the best design and engineering in the business, these incredible machines allow our award winning crew of experienced groomers to continue producing the best ski and snowboard surfaces possible. Expanded season pass choices – Making it easier than ever to enjoy Nub's all season long, we've once again reduced the number of blackout days on the Limited season pass we introduced two years ago.
