For decades, Nub's Nob has led the winter resort industry with a FREE beginner and practice area complete with it's very own FREE double chairlift and FREE Terrain Park.  The 12 acre BigTime slope was the first free area of it's kind anywhere and has put tens of thousands on "The Midwest's Best Snow" - FOR FREE!

The first slope open annually, operating every day and night Nub's Nob is open, the FREE BigTime beginner and practice area is specially designed by our award winning crew to maximize your personal learning curve.  Surrounded by our nationally renowned snowmaking machinery, lovingly prepared by some of North America's best snow groomers, the FREE BigTime slope gives you the best conditions possible for learning or advancing your skills.

Even the FREE double seat chairlift is carefully designed to be slightly slower and a little lower than traditional chairliifts making it so much easier to learn chairlift skills effectively.  Our trained lift attendants are there to help every age of skier and snowboarder enjoy their riding time on the FREE double chairlift.

New 2 seasons ago was our FREE Terrain Park.  Designed by a US Open Snowboard Champion and built by same award winning crew that constructs our #1 in North America (2007 SKI Magazine) Terrain Park this mini park of FREE whoop-dee-dos, bumps and jumps even includes a very special low-to-the-ground rail for learning all your terrain park moves.  Moms and Dads love it as much as do the kids!

Learn to Ski & Introduction to Snowboard Lesson Packages

The Winter Sport Schools at Nub's Nob are innovative leaders in Learn to Ski & Introduction to Snowboard lessons. The Winter Sport Schools instructors are specially trained in getting you started in the sports of a lifetime. All participants in the Learn to Ski & Introduction to Snowboard Packages can practice their new skills FREE for as long as they would like in our FREE beginner area complete with it's own FREE double chairlift.  The packages include lessons and the appropriate rental equipment for ages from 3rd grade through adult.

The best way to learn any winter sport is a private lesson.  Please see the Sport Schools information  and rates page for details on how you can sign up for the finest lesson available.  All kids 2nd grade and younger need to have the on-on-one attention of a private lesson instructor.

Every day Nub's Nob is open you can learn to ski or take your first steps toward snowboarding in this group lesson package that includes all the necessary gear!

So easy and affordable. Offered every day all winter. You start in Nub's ski/snowboard rental building at 1:30pm. Meet at the Winter Sport Schools desk, fill out the forms, then you are fit with either Nordica ski boots and new Rossignol skis or Head and Rossignol snowboard gear. Our rental experts will adjust your bindings (those hold you to your skis or snowboard) to the proper size and setting. You're ready to go. Lessons begin outside promptly at 2:00pm.

Your $35 includes all your ski or snowboard rental equipment, a beginner group lesson with FREE skiing/snowboarding in the BigTime beginner area. It's for beginners only. This is the best group learn to ski/snowboard package in the country. It's fun.
