Nub’s Nob Racing enters its 22nd season of helping ski racers achieve success in FIS, USSA, CUSSA Region 3, MHSAA and NASTAR sanctioned events. Members of Nub’s Nob Alpine Racing (NNR) compete in the USSA Junior Olympics, US National Championships, Federation International de Ski (FIS) Mid-America Cups, Michigan High School State Finals, USSA Masters and NASTAR National Championships. NNR is proud to have coached 2 FIS Mid-America Cup Champions, numerous Michigan State High School Athletic Association Champions and NASTAR National Champions. NNR is a member club of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA).

HELMETS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL RACE AND TRAINING EVENTS.

Please put the Nub's Nob Racing link below in your favorites. We post all Nub's Nob Racing schedules (for both training and racing) and updates here. The link below is also great for equipment questions regarding FIS/USSA regulations and for USSA Region 3 registration packets. Check it frequently as schedules change constantly.

You must register with the NNR team and join the USSA before you can race or train with us. If you are a new NNR team member simply enter the USSA/US Ski Team link and follow the membership path to join USSA.

How do you participate in Nub’s Nob Racing:

  1. Join USSA (United States Ski Association) TODAY.
  2. Join NNR (Nub’s Nob Racing) by choosing the applicable Race Membership or Training Program before whichever deadline you desire. You can save $40 to $200 by joining NNR before 10 October 2010.
  3. If you have a Race Membership use this link USSA (United States Ski Association) Central to get your USSA Central Division Region 3 race packet. This will include race schedule and fees for USSA-CD (Central Division) Region 3. This is CUSSA.

This season we are offering 2 USSA Race Memberships for registered competitors in the Central Division United States Ski Association’s Region 3.

NNR also offers 6 different Training Programs for racers of all ages and abilities. All Training Program members must be USSA members but you do not have to be a registered competitor.

 

 


NNR USSA Full Race Membership

For USSA racers, our top race coaching and training package for FIS and USSA juniors who desire the best and most intense race coaching and training regimen available. For racers who desire high-speed, steep terrain and are in preparation for major competition. Must be physically fit and have coaching staff approval for participation. Includes all weekends, holidays, nights and all CUSSA Region 3 race event coaching.

Coaching at all CUSSA Region 3 scheduled races includes technique, tactics, training courses, warm-up exercises, on-hill ski preparation and video analysis. All November and December training weekends as weather permits. Training at Nub's Nob on non-race CUSSA Region 3 weekends and other weekends as posted. Two nights of midweek training at Nub's Nob on Monday and Wednesday nights during regular night skiing season starting January 3, 2011. Christmas holiday training starting December 26, 2010 through December 31, 2010. Multiple sessions per day during weekends and holidays. NNR provides information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ski alignment and tuning.

Helmets are required for all events.

  • $745 by 10 October 2010 (This saves $200 per racer)
  • $855 by 13 November 2010  (Save $100 per racer)
  • $955 anytime after 13 November 2010

NNR USSA Weekend Race Membership

For racers who desire high-speed, steep terrain and are in preparation for major competition. Must be physically fit and have coaching staff approval for participation.

Training at Nub's Nob on non-race CUSSA weekends and other weekends as posted. Christmas holiday training starting December 26, 2010 through December 31, 2010. Up to 4 sessions per day during weekends and holidays. NNR membership includes information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ski alignment and tuning.

Helmets are required for all racing and training.

Full Training Program

This is the top training only (no coaching at races) package for FIS, USSA, high school and middle school, who desire the best and most intense training regimen available. For ski racers who desire high-speed, steep terrain and are in preparation for major competition. Must be physically fit and have coaching staff approval for participation. Training is conducted on the same steep terrain that is raced in MHSAA and CUSSA events.

All November and December training weekends as weather permits. Training at Nub's Nob on non-race CUSSA Region 3 weekends and other weekends as posted. Two nights of midweek training at Nub's Nob on Monday and Wednesday nights during regular night skiing season. Christmas holiday training starting December 26 - 31, 2010. Up to 4 sessions per day during weekends and holidays. NNR training programs include information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ski alignment and tuning.

Helmets are required for all training.

  • $445 by 10 October 2010 (This saves $100 per racer)
  • $495 by 13 November 2010 (Save $50 per racer)

Weekend/Christmas Training Program

Training for serious FIS, USSA, high school and middle school racers who can only attend on weekends and over the Christmas holidays. Up to 4 sessions per day. These sessions include very early morning steep training on the best race terrain in Michigan. Slalom and Giant Slalom.

All November and December training weekends as weather permits. Training at Nub's Nob on non-race CUSSA Region 3 weekends and other weekends as posted. Christmas holiday training starting December 26, 2010 through December 31, 2010. Up to 4 sessions per day weekends and holidays. NNR provides information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ski alignment and tuning.

Helmets are required for all training

  • $355 by 10 October 2010 (Save $100 per racer)
  • $405 by 13 November 2010 (Save $50 per racer)
  • $455 after 13 November 2010

Master and Senior Training Program

There is a Michigan Masters USSA Race Series.  There will be 6 races held at Nub's Nob and a weekend of races at Marquette Mt.

Training for USSA Masters (over 27 years of age) and USSA Seniors (21 to 26 years of age), Speed Series, MACC and NASTAR racers who desire high speed training on steep terrain. Program starts as soon as weather permits. Includes all weekend, holiday and midweek night training from November through February at Nub's Nob.

Includes available training sessions at Nub's Nob during regular skiing season.   NNR provides information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ ski alignment and tuning. NNR uses the best terrain available including the same steep slopes raced in USSA and Speed Series races.

Helmets are required for all training.

Midweek Night or Weekend Training Programs

Training for middle school, high school and USSA racers who desire high speed training on steep terrain. Racers have 2 programs to choose from:

  1. Midweek Night Training Program starts Monday night January 3, 2011 and ends March 9, 2011
    Two nights of midweek training at Nub's Nob on Monday and Wednesday nights during regular night skiing season.  This is a great midweek training addition to any local high school or middle school racer looking to conquer steep slopes.
  2. Weekend Training Program starts as soon as training slopes are open and ends February 26, 2011.  All November and December training weekends as weather permits. Training at Nub's Nob on non-race CUSSA Region 3 weekends and other weekends as posted.  This is the perfect weekend addition to any local or "downstate" racer who wishes steep training.

NNR provides information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ ski alignment and tuning. NNR uses the best terrain available including the same steep slopes raced in USSA, MHSAA and Speed Series races.

Helmets are required for all training.

  • $255 by 10 October 2010 (Doing this saves you $100 per racer!)
  • $305 by 13 November 2010 (This saves you $50 per racer!)
  • $355 anytime after 13 November 2010

Christmas/Holiday Training Program

Training for serious racers of any age who can train only over the Christmas holidays. Christmas holiday training starting December 26, 2010 through December 31, 2010.  Multiple sessions daily. Slalom and Giant Slalom. NNR provides information on conditioning, nutrition, equipment selection, ski shop discounts at fall racer nights, boot/ski alignment and tuning. This includes early morning training on the best terrain in the Midwest including the same steep slopes raced in USSA and MHSAA competitions.

Please note that you need a season pass or appropriate lift ticket for this camp.  This is only the training fee, lifts and meals are not included.

Helmets are required for all training.

MUST be a USSA member for Christmas/Holiday training. Join USSA today, don’t delay!

IMPORTANT NOTE to ALL Christmas/Holiday Training Program participants:
Because of changes in regulations, as well as slope and staffing needs for quality training, ALL athletes must be registered both with NNR for this program and must be a paid USSA member by Friday, December 18, 2010 at noon. No exceptions, sorry.

 


What does NNR expect of its members?

Have fun and learn! Be the best they can be at everything they do. Achieve at their highest level in academics, at home, in life and sports. Promote and demonstrate good sportsmanship. Develop the fundamental skills to be good skiers. Combine the tactics and techniques for successful ski racing with their talent. Maintain good physical condition. Set a personal example for exemplary behavior. Make good decisions. Stay on their feet.

What does NNR expect of the Parents?

Be supportive of their children. Help and work at the races. Encourage children to set academic, skiing and personal goals and to demonstrate good behavior and sportsmanship. Ask questions. Communicate with the coaches. Set the example of good sportsmanship and behavior. Enforce study habits and love these special days in a great family environment.

What do I do now?

  • You must have your USSA membership number, pay your Nub's Nob Racing membership or program fees and have your release/medical forms properly signed and mailed in.
  • Join USSA today You must be a member of USSA to join any NNR membership or program.
  • Helmets are required for all races and training
  • Early discount fees are due in the NNR office by 10 October 2010.
  • Pre-season discount fees are due in the NNR office by 13 November 2010.
  • Get in the best shape of your life. Be ready to go fast. Real fast.
